Meet the founder
Stuart founded Amuna in 2021, after designing stormwater, civil and flood packages across NSW for several years. Before qualifying as an engineer, he trained and worked in construction — a carpentry trade, a building qualification, and years on site. It shows up in the documentation. Designs leave this office resolved for construction, not just compliant on paper: levels that work, details a builder can set out, and solutions that account for what a site can actually be built with.

Who we are
Amuna is a civil engineering practice based in Hunters Hill, working across Sydney and NSW.
We design stormwater, flood and civil packages for development of every scale — alterations and additions through to multi-unit, subdivision, commercial and industrial projects (including data centres). Our work covers the full approval path: pre-DA advice, development applications and complying development, construction certificates, and certification at occupation.
Founded in 2021 by Stuart Steinle-Davies, the practice is now a team of engineers. Every design is prepared in-house and reviewed by a Chartered Professional Engineer.

The term AMUNA is derived from an ancient rainwater harvesting technique.
The application of delaying stormwater and rainwater runoff is as prevalent today as it was back then—modern techniques such as on-site retention and on-site detention systems are used to ensure the development contributes to its environmental obligations and assists in alleviating pressure on Council’s stormwater networks.

We review your plans, survey and site constraints, and confirm what council will require before any design starts.

Design and modelling
Stormwater, flood and civil design, documented to council specifications.

We speak to council engineers directly — offline and early — to agree on the approach before it reaches formal assessment. Resolving a design question in a phone call takes days. Resolving it through an RFI takes weeks.
Council engagement

Approval Lodgement
and response to any requests for information through assessment.
5 —
Support through construction, then works-as-executed review and certification for your occupation certificate.
